To Be US Productions joins Not a Great Whisperer Podcast to discuss their debut film, “TO BE US: To work”, that centers on what it’s like to work while Black. The documentary won “Best of Film” at the International Black Film Festival. The film includes interviews that have recurring themes of racism, misogynoir, retaliation, wrongful terminations and discriminatory practices. TO BE US Productions has reshaped storytelling to elevate Black creatives above mainstream consumption. Tosca and Cedrick believe storytelling and liberation are intrinsically linked. They believe the true measure of humanity is one’s willingness to rage against the inequities from which they benefit. They discuss how they started, the process for the film, and their own powerful stories of discrimination. We discuss the psychological and chronic health consequences of racism and what happens to the body when it is in a constant state of stress. This conversation is important for everyone and needs to be talked about more often. Get to know Tosca and Cedrick and do your part and educate yourself. Enjoy the real, unedited conversation with Tosca, Cedrick and Katy.
